Full-time Teacher of Religion and Life Philosophy in Upper Secondary and Basic Education - Karstulan kunta - Karstula, Finland

We are looking for a staff member for our comprehensive school who is ready to utilize their versatile skills in a student-centered manner. We are seeking a full-time teacher of religion, life philosophy, psychology, and philosophy at Karstula Upper Secondary School and Basic Education, starting from August 1, 2026, for a permanent position (number 0302). Karstula Comprehensive School has nearly 300 students, almost 50 staff members, and a school building completed in 2021. We require qualifications according to the decree on teaching staff qualifications (Decree 986/1998; 105/2012, §8) for teaching religion and life philosophy. Experience in teaching psychology and philosophy at the upper secondary level is considered an advantage. Additionally, we expect the ability to proactively collaborate with other teachers, special education teachers, guardians, and student welfare services. Our school’s language of instruction is Finnish, so proficiency in Finnish at native level is required. We value a student-centered approach, fluent ICT skills, and a willingness to develop. The role requires flexibility, good cooperation, and interaction skills. Employment terms are governed by the municipal collective agreement for teaching staff (OVTES). The position is subject to a six (6) month probation period. The selected candidate must submit a health certificate within 30 days of receiving the employment decision and present a valid criminal record extract as required by the Act on Background Checks for Persons Working with Children (504/2002).
