We are seeking a caretaker for Finnish-language basic education at Variskan Comprehensive School for a permanent position. Variskan Comprehensive School is located near the historic landscape of Old Vaasa and has 650 students. The school is a Kiva School, Green Flag School, Reading School, and Moving School. Upper-grade students have the opportunity to study specialized subjects in mathematics, foreign languages, and physical education. The duties of the caretaker include: - Building maintenance and repair tasks in accordance with the division of work between school caretakers and property managers - Supervision related to safety and order - Guiding, directing, advising, and assisting clients (students, teachers, guardians, visitors) in various situations - Tasks related to moving and organizing furniture, AV and ICT equipment, materials, and teaching supplies - Postal and goods delivery as agreed with the principal - Procurement within own area of responsibility in cooperation with the principal - Acting as a co-educator - Other tasks separately agreed upon for the school - The caretaker at Variskan School may work some weekends. Qualifications include a suitable professional qualification for caretaker work. Language skills required: good Finnish language skills. Experience in caretaker work is considered an advantage. We require the candidate to have building maintenance skills, manual skills, technical knowledge, and good ICT skills. We also value teamwork, flexibility, and initiative. Good cooperation skills are appreciated, as working in a school involves customer service. The caretaker is an important part of the staff and also acts as a co-educator in their own way. Salary is determined according to the KVTES salary system starting from October 1, 2025. The trial period is six months.
