School Assistant (Tuupala Comprehensive School) - Kuhmon kaupunki - Kuhmo, Finland

The Service Area for Growth and Learning of the City of Kuhmo is recruiting for a permanent school assistant position starting August 10, 2026. The school assistant role is based at Tuupala Comprehensive School, where placements are made according to the needs of grades 1-9 students. At the beginning of the 2026-27 school year, the position will be in a special class. In the 2026-27 school year, approximately 450 basic education students attend the school. We hope applicants have experience working with children and young people. The school assistant role requires good interaction and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work as a partner, independently, and as part of a team. The qualification requirement is a vocational qualification as a school assistant or other suitable education. The responsibilities of the school assistant include guiding and supporting students, teamwork with teachers and other assistants, participating in camp and field trips, supervising meals and recesses, and assisting with morning and afternoon activities. We are looking for an assistant with a proactive and energetic approach, a present and encouraging attitude towards children, and enthusiasm to be an active part of the school community. The working hours are 30 hours per week. The position is filled on a six-month trial period. The salary is in accordance with the municipal general collective agreement (KVTES). The selected candidate must submit a valid criminal record extract related to working with children within 30 days of receiving the employment decision, in accordance with the Act on Background Checks for Persons Working with Children (504/2002).
