Welcome to the pre-school group at Himmeli Daycare! We have a friendly and sensitive work environment. Himmeli Daycare is part of the Himmeli- Perttu Early Childhood Education Unit. Our pedagogical emphasis is on the joy of reading and literature, which we can deepen and draw from in our activities. Your task is to work as an early childhood education teacher in the pre-school group, which also includes another teacher and two childcare workers. There are 14 children per group in two pre-school groups. We expect applicants to be enthusiastic and qualified for pre-school, with a sensitive upbringing approach and commitment to work. Good teamwork skills are an advantage. You will act as the pedagogical leader of your own team, sharing tasks with another teacher. The position can also be a fixed-term one for the operational year. As an early childhood education teacher, you will be responsible for building the operational culture and learning environment of your child group, planning, implementing, developing, and evaluating pedagogical activities, and supporting individual learning according to Helsinki's early childhood education and pre-school plans, the unit’s operational plan, and the child's VAS. Qualifications: We require a qualification under the Early Childhood Education Act (540/2018) or a transfer regulation (75 §) with a Bachelor's degree in Education (lto), a suitable university of applied sciences degree, or an equivalent previous diploma, e.g., kindergarten teacher or social educator (Act 272/2005 and Regulation 608/2005). Recognition decision from the Finnish National Agency for Education based on foreign education also fulfills the qualification requirement. You must also have the qualification to provide pre-school education (Regulation 986/1998 and Regulation 865/2005). Additionally, good oral and written skills in Finnish are required. The selected person must present a valid criminal background check for working with children (504/2002). A tuberculosis certificate for working with underage children will be checked (Communicable Diseases Act § 55). When starting a permanent employment as a teacher at Helsinki City in 2026, you will be offered a 2000 euro incentive bonus. The bonus is paid only once to the same person.
