This may include, for example, a middle school student needing help with homework or a high school student preparing for exams or the matriculation exam. Previous teaching experience or providing private tutoring is considered an advantage, but the most important qualities are confidence in teaching, good interaction skills, and a desire to help others develop. The work is flexible and usually takes place in the afternoon or evening—schedules are agreed upon independently with clients. Tutoring can occur at the student’s or tutor’s home, in a library, or online. The number of hours and clients depends largely on the subject taught and your preferences, and you decide how many clients to take. Work begins based on client needs.
