Job Description

You will turn QPU fabrication and packaging into a repeatable, measurable production capability. Your focus is throughput, yield, and predictable delivery, while protecting safety and wellbeing in a cleanroom environment. -- You will lead QPU production to enable IQM Quantum computer deliveries. You'll scale up the production site and operations to the next level, ending up with multiplied volumes and predictable yield in a safe working culture. You'll have a great viewpoint and opportunity to do this in collaboration with IQM's fabrication and quantum engineering experts for the benefit of the humankind. Responsibilities include leading the organization, managing a team of 15 experts, ensuring high quality production, building ramp-up plans, establishing yield tracking, developing production metrics, collaborating with engineering teams, troubleshooting, maintaining safety standards, and coaching team leads.

Job Details

Responsibilities

  • Lead the QPU Production organisation, Including fabrication, micro packaging, and materials supply
  • Leading a team of professionals (currently 15 micro and nanofabrication, micropackaging & material supply experts), resourcing with the right talent to increase the team size to match the business need and are responsible for team well-being and development
  • Ensure high quality QPUs are available for quantum computer deliveries, with clear production planning and execution against demand
  • Build the production ramp up plan, staffing needs, and operating cadence
  • Set up the production control points across the line and drive alignment on pass fail criteria with process engineering leads
  • Establish yield tracking and loss breakdown across wafer and chip flow
  • Put the right production metrics in place and use them to drive daily decisions, prioritisation, and continuous improvement
  • You systematically develop the process to reduce variation
  • Collaborate with other engineering teams to enable controlled implementation of new processes and products
  • Partner closely with process engineering on troubleshooting and production quality, so decisions can move into the line with the right guardrails
  • Work with project managers, procurement, and delivery teams to keep schedules realistic, visible, and on track
  • Maintain and enforce safety, quality standards, and strong working conditions, every day
  • Coach and develop your team leads and grow a culture of clarity, accountability, and wellbeing

Requirements

  • Deep understanding of production and production ramp up, ideally in a deep tech environment
  • Solid understanding of microfabrication and packaging processes, including lithography, wet and dry processing, deposition, packaging, and quality controls
  • Proven track record of leading a production ramp up, with clear examples and measurable impact
  • Ability to set up practical metrics for production output and quality, and to follow through with execution with data
  • Excellent leadership and performance management skills, including clear expectations and fair, direct feedback
  • Strong coaching skills and a motivation to help others grow, especially team leads
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to drive consensus and clarity across stakeholders
  • Ability to explain technical topics to both technical and non technical audiences
  • Strong collaboration skills and confidence working with cross functional teams
  • Experience working closely with R&D teams to industrialize new processes
  • Experience with MES, production data systems
