Job Description
We are seeking a full-time Finnish Language and Communication lecturer for a fixed-term position at Kajaani University of Applied Sciences, from August 10, 2026, to December 31, 2027, or as agreed. The position involves teaching Finnish language and communication primarily to students in social, health, and sports fields. The main tasks include teaching and guiding students in degree, pathway, and customized training programs across various learning environments. Responsibilities also include planning and developing educational content, student advising, supervising scientific writing, and assessing thesis work. The lecturer will collaborate with different educational sectors. Teaching takes place at KAMK's Kajaani campus and also remotely. Requirements: - Suitable higher university degree, with advanced studies in Finnish language considered an advantage - Pedagogical studies for teachers - Good oral and written communication skills - Skills in remote teaching Additional valued skills: - Good interaction skills - Experience working actively in networks - Teaching experience in diverse learning environments - Ability to operate according to the institution's principles and strategy The successful candidate should have a solution-oriented and guiding approach, with skills and activity in working with different learners. My typical week involves planning teaching and assessing student performance. Sometimes I have meetings with other teachers or project staff. Projects at KAMK have diversified the work. When I started, my week mainly involved planning and assessment. Occasionally, I met with colleagues. Team teaching brings new challenges and methods. I meet my tutored groups either remotely or in person, at least twice a year, and these development discussions are an interesting addition to my duties. Salary: Salary is based on the SIVISTA collective agreement for universities of applied sciences. A qualified teacher's salary ranges from €3,796.12 to €5,285.76 per month, depending on experience.
