Senior Officer, Training Ship Merikarhu - Kotkan-Haminan seudun koulutuskuntayhtymä

South Kymenlaakso Vocational College is seeking a senior officer for the training ship Merikarhu on a permanent basis starting from August 10, 2026, or as agreed. The training ship Merikarhu serves as a training vessel for students of South Kymenlaakso Vocational College and other partner organizations. The vessel is based in Kotka and primarily operates in the eastern Gulf of Finland. The work mainly involves student guidance and working with students. The senior officer's responsibilities include maintaining the vessel, safety drills, navigation, and maintaining bridge equipment. The applicant must hold a valid watchkeeping officer certificate, a Marine Captain (AMK) degree, a valid basic safety training certificate, rescue boat and ferry crew training, GOC certification, and additional certification as a safety officer (SSO). We also require strong experience in deck crew duties. Previous teaching experience and good knowledge of navigation equipment and vessel systems are appreciated.
