Early Childhood Educator, Confirmed Staff Role, Western Area - Helsingin kaupunki - Helsinki, Finland

We are looking for five confirmed staff members for the western area! As an early childhood educator, you play an important role in enabling quality everyday pedagogy, children's participation, and inclusive early childhood education. You support children's groups in collaboration with early childhood education professionals and bring your own expertise to ensure safety, sensitive encounters, and joy in children's daily life. The confirmed staff member is a responsible person with educational responsibility, working with the team. Their work focuses on the child and the implementation of support for the child. In the group where the confirmed staff member works, there are always about five children receiving enhanced support, alongside other children. The activities are tailored annually based on the children’s needs and interests. The confirmed staff enables small group activities, enhances communication support, and strengthens the daily structure. From an inclusion perspective, this improves the child's participation, timely support, and the child's sense of self-efficacy. The key tasks include enabling long-term and supported play, utilizing various communication methods, and supporting children's emotional and regulation skills. Full-day pedagogy is considered in all activities. The tasks are shared across the entire western area, so the location may change at the start of each operational period. This regional role offers a versatile opportunity to work in different early childhood education environments across the western area. Preschools, teams, and cultures vary, making the work diverse, developmental, and rewarding. You will be able to utilize your strengths broadly and build cooperation with staff from different units. Please prepare for the recruitment process according to the schedule below: Group interviews will be held at Daycare Aurinkokallio in Kannelmäki on Monday, June 15, from 9 am to 1 pm, and Tuesday, June 16, from 12 pm to 4 pm. Selected candidates will receive an invitation after the application deadline on Friday, June 12. The invitation will specify the exact date and time. Those progressing from group interviews will be invited to individual interviews by Tuesday, June 16, at 5 pm. The individual interviews will be held via Teams on Wednesday, June 17, from 2 pm to 5 pm. The recruitment aims to be completed by Midsummer. As a childcare worker, you plan and implement pedagogically focused care, upbringing, and education together with other staff, in accordance with the operational plan of the early childhood education unit, the City of Helsinki's early childhood education plan, the pre-primary education plan, and the child's early childhood education plan. Qualification requirements: You must have a basic qualification in early childhood education and guidance, social and health care, or an equivalent relevant qualification, including or supplemented with extensive studies in children's care, upbringing, and education (Early Childhood Education Act 540/2018, Section 28, Regulation 753/2018, Sections 3 and 4). Recognition of foreign qualifications by the Finnish National Agency for Education also fulfills the qualification requirement. Additionally, good oral and written Finnish language skills are required. The selected person must present a valid criminal background check for working with children (504/2002). A tuberculosis clearance for working with children under school age will be checked (Communicable Diseases Act § 55). Experience in supporting children's needs, inclusive early childhood education, and confirmed support practices are considered an advantage.
