Job Description
The supervisor is responsible for planning and organizing green area maintenance in their designated area. The work area is the Old Espoo region. The base is located in Teirinsyrjä, Mikkeli. You will work alongside a park maintenance manager, and the permanent staff consists of about 16 employees, with you acting as their immediate supervisor. During the summer, the staff increases with seasonal workers. Our maintenance unit handles the upkeep of public areas, including streets and green spaces. Approximately 100 people work in green area maintenance during the summer, including about ten office and supervisory staff. We operate throughout Espoo, with the largest bases in Mikkeli, Mankkaa, and Leppävaara. The supervisor's responsibilities include, among others: Organizing maintenance work for green areas. Ensuring compliance with maintenance quality standards. Collaborating with internal city departments and national stakeholders, as well as with educational institutions in the field. Managing, recruiting, and ensuring the well-being of the unit's staff. Acting as an expert in maintenance and green industry, including in construction planning projects. Managing the unit's equipment and tools. Participating as a subject matter expert in public procurement processes. Handling customer feedback and collaborating with residents. Preparing reports and using various operational management and IT systems. We will consider all applications received during the application period. The planned interview week is week 34. Workplace name and address: Maintenance, Infrastructure Services, Teirinsyrjä 4, 02770 Espoo. Working hours: 38 hours 15 minutes per week. The position is permanent. Start date: 1 September 2026 or by agreement. Qualifications: Suitable higher education or vocational qualification. We require experience in green area maintenance and supervisory tasks. Good IT skills are also required. You will work in a large organization with professionals in the field. A B-class driving license is necessary. Experience working in the public sector is appreciated. Success in the role requires initiative, flexibility, and an interest in developing work methods and processes. The supervisor role also requires good cooperation skills, customer service orientation, and the ability to work well with different people and stakeholders.
