Job Description

We are seeking stormwater designers to strengthen and develop our skilled and growing team. As a stormwater designer, your tasks include various planning and consulting activities related to stormwater, such as stormwater surveys related to planning and projects, designing stormwater management, conveyance, and drainage, stormwater modeling, flood protection, and improving stormwater quality. In your role, you will advise clients, recommending innovative nature-based solutions and participating in the development of new management structures. Your responsibilities also include collaborating with, for example, Sweco's landscape designers and biologists to design sustainable solutions. Together, we will make a difference. You will be part of our competent, approximately 10-person Stormwater team within the approximately 50-person Water Supply Department. As a stormwater specialist, you will participate in diverse and interesting planning and consulting projects. Currently, we are involved in several exciting projects, including the Helsinki Infrastructure Program and other alliance projects in the Helsinki metropolitan area. The work environment is multidisciplinary, with project teams including street planners, landscape architects, water supply specialists, geologists, nature, and environmental experts. We work across Finland in 28 locations, with your office based in Helsinki. Key requirements for success in this role include: - Previous work experience in stormwater management of at least two years - Relevant infrastructure education (Bachelor of Engineering / Master of Science in Engineering) - Good understanding of infrastructure systems such as underground water supply networks, water bodies, catchment areas, and flood risk management - Proficiency in GIS software such as QGIS or ArcGIS - Familiarity with AutoCAD and Fluidit (Storm) is considered an advantage - Finnish language skills for working on domestic projects, and the ability to communicate fluently in English - Willingness to develop, positive attitude towards learning new things, and curiosity to find out more - Good teamwork and communication skills, ability to see the big picture, and a positive approach to problem-solving.
