Job Description
We are seeking a special class teacher for Laurentius School for a fixed-term position from 10.08.2026 to 31.7.2027. As a special class teacher, your work will focus on the 7th grade special class. You will collaborate daily with special education teachers, classroom teachers, and school assistants. Your duties include: - teaching provided by the special class teacher in connection with other instruction - teaching provided by the special class teacher - teaching the school's own special class - providing group-specific support for students We require versatile subject mastery for the position, as you will teach all 7th grade subjects. Additionally, experience and insight into student-specific instructional support and activity within the teaching team are required. We emphasize strong skills in interacting with students. Interest in developing our school's special education from the perspective of changes in the Basic Education Act is considered an advantage. Laurentius School is a comprehensive school with approximately 800 students in the center of Lohja. There are approximately 100 teaching staff. The school has preparatory classes for basic education for primary and lower secondary school-aged students, as well as the city's joint K-special classes. The school's development goals focus particularly on increasing community spirit and well-being for both students and staff. A mentor teacher from our school will be assigned to you to help with your orientation and support you as a new member of our work community. Eligibility requirements are determined according to the Decree on the Qualifications of Teaching Staff (986/98). Certificates proving eligibility must be attached to the application and will be verified during a possible interview. Submitted certificates must show the completed degree and studies proving eligibility (e.g., pedagogical studies 60 ECTS, multidisciplinary studies 60 ECTS, subject teaching qualifications 60/120 ECTS). The salary for those meeting the eligibility requirements is 3029.51 - 3243.27 €/month + possible annual increments, according to OVTES. Teachers in Lohja's basic education are paid a TVA compensation of 146.55 €/month (Lohja-TVA). Special class teachers are paid an additional TVA compensation of 120.15 €/month. Other TVA compensations may also be paid while working for the City of Lohja. A probationary period, which is half the duration of the employment relationship, applies to the position. Additionally, a criminal record extract in accordance with the Act (504/2002) must be presented. Interviews will be held as group interviews at Laurentius School on Wed 5.8.2026 from 10:00 to 12:00.
