Job Description
We are currently seeking a qualified professional to join our team as a permanent director (social worker) at the Salpakankaan Child Welfare Unit, Suuntala. The Salpakankaan Child Welfare Unit is located in the immediate vicinity of Hollola's municipal center. Salpakangas has two seven-place wards for placed children: Kasvula and Suuntala, intended for children aged 10-17. Additionally, Salpakangas has a family rehabilitation ward with space for three families. The teams at Kasvula and Suuntala consist of eight directors and close caregivers, with a service manager acting as the supervisor. A family rehabilitation counselor also works to support parenting work. The facility also employs a food service manager, cleaners, and a property maintenance company. As a director, you will be involved in daily care and upbringing tasks for children and young people, working closely with their support networks, social services, and other partners. The role includes a strong focus on parenting work and long-term mentorship with children and young people. Directors typically work morning and evening shifts, with occasional night shifts also possible. Successful performance in this role requires the ability to respond to the individual support needs of young people, readiness to guide them in daily life, skills to work with both the young person and their parents, and good interaction, cooperation, and networking skills. We also value special expertise in psychiatry, neuropsychiatry, and/or substance abuse work. Basic knowledge of medication management is considered an advantage. The new social and health center combines services for all ages from infants to seniors. The position requires a higher education degree in social services (Bachelor of Social Services) and registration with the National Supervisory Authority for Welfare and Health (Valvira) in JulkiTerhikki or JulkiSuosikki. Experience in child welfare work, current medication management licenses, a hygiene passport, and a driver’s license are considered advantages. Before starting, a criminal background check in accordance with law (504/2002) for working with children and young people is required. The working language is Finnish, so fluent spoken and written Finnish skills (B1 level) are expected.
