Welcome to join us at the substitute care unit Tiippana! We are hiring two counselors for permanent positions starting from 1.9.2026 or by agreement. The Tiippana substitute care unit is a child protection unit of the Lapland Welfare Area. Operations started in June 2025. We are continuously working on developing our activities. We are looking for a child protection professional who is eager to help build and develop services for placed young people aged 13-17. Tiippana has three wards: a 6-place crisis and assessment ward, and two 4-place wards for intensive institutional care for young people in need of child protection substitute care. Each ward has a team leader and multidisciplinary staff. The counselor's work is professionally demanding, requiring good interaction skills and a solution-oriented approach. Customer orientation and the ability to work within a multidisciplinary network are emphasized. The work is carried out in a close-knit team but also requires the ability to make independent decisions. Practical tasks include educational work, assessment work, mentoring, documentation, and communication with various partners and youth networks. The work involves written reporting tasks. It is a three-shift work. The qualification requirement for the position is a suitable higher education degree in social, health, or educational fields. A driving license and a valid hygiene passport are required. Experience and skills in child protection work, especially substitute care, are considered an advantage. We also value experience in mental health and/or substance abuse work and neuropsychiatric expertise. Having completed medication training is also an advantage. Employment terms are governed by the SOTE agreement. A 6-month probation period applies.
