Job Description
The Kotka education department is seeking a full-time primary school teacher for a fixed-term position in resource teaching and the subject of Swedish language, from August 1, 2026, to December 31, 2026. The first placement of the position is at Karhula School. Karhula School operates in three locations until the beginning of the fall semester 2027. The school has approximately 700 students in grades 6-9. In addition to general education groups, the school offers physical education and music-focused instruction, a flexible basic education group, and special classes. Karhula School is part of the national sports high school network. Sports class coaching is carried out together with the South Kymenlaakso Sports Academy (EKA) during school hours. We are looking for an enthusiastic, development-oriented, and cooperative teacher with good teamwork and teaching skills, strong IT skills, and a desire to learn new things. We value the ability to work well with different people. We require willingness to develop and implement flexible teaching arrangements and collaboration across subject and grade boundaries in accordance with the objectives of the curriculum, and we hope you are prepared to teach students from different linguistic and cultural backgrounds. Qualifications are determined according to the decree on the qualifications of education personnel no. 986/98. Certificates demonstrating qualifications will be checked during the possible interview. The selected candidate must present a criminal background check related to working with children and young people (Act 504/2002) before the appointment is confirmed. The employment relationship includes a two (2) month probation period. Salary is based on the municipal collective agreement for the education sector. The task-specific salary for a qualified teacher in Kotka education department is €3460.44/month, excluding possible overtime and annual bonuses. The reason for the fixed-term position is the ongoing management arrangements related to school mergers, which affect the available teaching resources in different subjects.
