As an early childhood education teacher, you will be responsible for building the activity culture and learning environment of your child group, planning, implementing, developing, and evaluating pedagogical activities, and supporting individual learning according to the Helsinki early childhood education and pre-primary education plan, the early childhood education unit’s operational plan, and the child's VAS. Qualifications: You must have a qualification in accordance with the Early Childhood Education Act (540/2018) or a transitional provision (75 §) such as a Bachelor's degree in Education, a suitable university of applied sciences degree, or an equivalent previous qualification, e.g., a kindergarten teacher or social educator qualification (Act 272/2005 and Decree 608/2005). Recognition decision from the Finnish National Agency for Education based on foreign education also fulfills the qualification requirement. Additionally, good oral and written skills in Finnish are required. The selected person must present a valid criminal background check for working with children (504/2002). A tuberculosis certificate for working with underage children will be checked (Communicable Diseases Act § 55). When starting a permanent employment as an early childhood education teacher at Helsinki City in 2026, a one-time incentive of 2000 euros will be paid.
