Job Description

We are seeking a forestry instructor for a permanent position at the Taivalkoski campus, starting from September 1, 2026. In this role, you will teach vocational content for the basic forestry qualification, including sustainable forest management and utilization, use of forest tractors, mechanized timber harvesting, as well as maintenance and servicing. You will also be responsible for personalizing studies. Teaching takes place through client projects in companies or on our own training sites and learning environments at the campus. You will also serve as a mentor for student groups. You are a good fit if you have teamwork skills, initiative, and enthusiasm for developing new things. Besides professional expertise, you excel in communication and teamwork skills. Koulutuskuntayhtymä OSAO is Finland’s leading vocational education community, enabling workplace skills and continuous learning. The Taivalkoski campus is the northernmost OSAO location. It trains professionals in forestry, earthmoving, and mining industries. Modern teaching equipment and nearby training sites provide excellent conditions for learning. We also consider those who have completed a specialized vocational qualification suitable for forestry, with the qualification to teach according to decree A986/1998, and at least five years of work experience in the field. Additionally, a good knowledge of forestry machinery technology and practical experience as a forest machine operator are required. Basic professional driver’s license and C-driver’s license are also required. Experience in vocational teaching, simulator-based teaching, and use of various electronic learning environments are considered an advantage. The role requires good communication and teamwork skills and a proactive approach to development. Experience in cooperation with working life and experience in timber procurement and/or planning is valued. We hope you share our values of responsibility, creativity, courage, and fairness. Salary and employment terms are based on the municipal collective agreement for education sector (OVTES). Interviews will be held for selected candidates on June 15, 2026. The selected candidate must provide an acceptable health certificate within one month of starting employment and submit a criminal record extract as required by law 504/2002 concerning working with children and young people. The position is subject to a six (6) month probationary period.
