Early Childhood Education Teacher - Helsingin kaupunki - Helsinki, Finland

We are looking for three early childhood education teachers for Päiväkoti Terhi. The kindergarten moved to new premises on Ensi linja last year. In August, more children will join, expanding our activities. Each child group has its own clear home area, which does not need to be scheduled with other groups. Despite the large size, the rooms are child-friendly and easy to understand, enabling peaceful and calm activities. The rooms are excellent for small group work! The kindergarten also offers the benefits of a large building, including good sports halls. The staff at Päiväkoti Terhi are professional and highly committed. Turnover has been very low in recent years. The work community and atmosphere have been rated good in surveys for several years. Tasks in autumn 2026 will be in groups of children under 3 years old. Positions are filled starting 3.8.2026 or by agreement. As an early childhood education teacher, you will be responsible for building the operational culture and learning environment of your child group, planning, implementing, developing, and evaluating pedagogical activities, and supporting individual learning according to Helsinki's early childhood education and pre-primary education plan, the unit’s operational plan, and the child's Vasu. Qualifications: We require that you have a qualification according to the Finnish Early Childhood Education Act (540/2018) or a transitional provision (75 §) such as a Bachelor's degree in Education, a suitable university of applied sciences degree, or an equivalent lower secondary level degree, e.g., a kindergarten teacher or social educator degree (Act 272/2005 and Decree 608/2005). Recognition of foreign education by the Finnish National Agency for Education also fulfills the qualification requirement. Additionally, good oral and written skills in Finnish are required. The selected person must present a valid criminal background check for working with children (504/2002). A tuberculosis clearance for working with children under school age will be checked (Communicable Diseases Act § 55). When starting a permanent employment as an early childhood education teacher with Helsinki in 2026, a one-time incentive of 2000 euros will be paid.
