Job Description
Based on the Youth Act (1285/2016), the outreach youth work aims to reach young people in need of support and help them access services and other support that promote their growth, independence, participation in society, life management, and access to education and the labor market. The outreach youth worker at Saimaan Ammattiopisto Sampo is responsible for reaching and supporting students under 29 who are at risk of dropping out, assisting with life management, handling matters, and continuing their studies. The work focuses on students with high absenteeism. It also includes supporting students returning to studies after a break. Main tasks include: - Engaging with youth - Individual guidance and support to various services - Small group work - Development work, documentation, communication - Networking The role requires good cooperation skills, initiative, knowledge of the service network, presentation skills, responsibility, and self-direction. It is essential to be able to respectably engage with young people in difficult life situations. Motivating youth is also a key skill. The position involves developing the outreach youth work at Saimaan Ammattiopisto Sampo, including planning, evaluation, communication, and documentation tasks in collaboration with other outreach workers and responsible personnel. The role requires good independent working skills and the ability to report on outreach activities. The outreach work includes some field visits. The work is primarily daytime, with occasional evening and weekend work as agreed. A driver’s license and the ability to use a personal car are necessary due to the nature of the work. The work takes place mainly at the Lappeenranta campus and also at the Imatra campus. The fixed-term position is from October 1, 2026, to September 31, 2027. Qualifications include sufficient education in youth, social, or health sectors and experience working with youth. Knowledge of outreach youth work, solution-focused approach, and digital skills are valued. The selected candidate must present a criminal record extract according to section 6, subsection 2 of the Criminal Records Act. Salary is according to KVTES. A 4-month trial period applies in recruitment. Some applicants will be invited for an interview on June 18, 2026.
