Director of Education - Parkanon kaupunki - Parkano, Finland

We are seeking a permanent Director of Education for the City of Parkano to oversee and develop the city's educational services. We offer an interesting and diverse role where you can influence the development of the city's educational services. As Director of Education, you will be responsible for the city's education, early childhood education, library, youth, and leisure services. Your work includes managerial duties, strategic planning, operational development, and financial management. The Director of Education acts as the presenter for the education committee and as a member of the city management team. Success in this role requires a good vision for the future of educational services and the ability to lead and motivate the staff in the education sector. The qualification requirement is a suitable higher university degree. We expect candidates to have experience in leadership or managerial roles within municipal educational services. Strong financial skills and the ability to develop operations cost-effectively are also valued. To succeed, good communication and collaboration skills are essential, as the role involves close interaction with other city departments and external stakeholders. The position will be filled starting December 1, 2026, or by agreement. The terms of employment are governed by the municipal sector's general collective agreement. The total salary for the Director of Education from October 1, 2026, is €6,930. Before taking up the position, the appointee must provide an acceptable medical certificate of health. The employment relationship includes a six-month probation period.
