We are seeking a registered nurse for a fixed-term position in child protection services at Myllyjärvi Youth Home from July 29, 2026, to July 7, 2027. Myllyjärvi Youth Home is a crisis and reception unit providing out-of-home care for adolescents placed urgently or taken into custody. The home operates two 7-bed units, primarily assessing the child protection needs of children aged 13-17 and supporting them in crisis situations. The youth home handles urgent placements during and outside office hours, implements planned out-of-home placements, and provides short-term care and supervision for children in custody. Placements typically last a few months, during which the child's readiness to return home or need for longer-term placement is assessed in close collaboration with the child's social worker. The staff at Myllyjärvi Youth Home includes two registered nurses and fourteen youth home supervisors. Additionally, a shared psychologist is available for child protection institutions. The youth home supports the young person and their family. Activities focus on building a safe daily life, supporting and strengthening parenting, assisting with school attendance, guiding meaningful leisure activities, and developing skills necessary for independence and adulthood as the youth approaches legal adulthood. The registered nurse is responsible for promoting the health of children and adolescents placed at the youth home and integrating healthcare perspectives into the placement process. The nurse also ensures the implementation of the medication plan and collaborates with healthcare providers involved in the clients' care. Tasks include assessing the support needs, well-being, and rehabilitation of children and adolescents in placement. The work involves three-shift rotation. Your workday may include: - Consulting on child contacts, assessing health status, and providing service guidance - Monitoring medication processes at the youth home - Guiding other staff in managing clients' illnesses and promoting health - Working with the root causes of placements, such as mental health and substance abuse issues, family interaction challenges, parenting support needs, school difficulties, and other self-harming behaviors. The task-specific salary is €3,115.50/month. In addition, we pay experience-based bonuses of 3% after 5 years and 8% after 10 years.
