Job Description

Finnair is a diverse community of professionals who work ambitiously with a big heart and commitment. A strong safety culture is our priority and at the core of our everyday work, never taking it for granted. We are committed to doing our share in solving the climate challenge by determinedly following our science-based pathway to decarbonize our operations. We find meaning in our purpose: With our heart in Finland, we make every journey better, today and tomorrow. Our values – Always Safe, Customer at Heart and Stronger Together– guide us in everything we do. As part of the evolution of our Digital organisation, we are strengthening strategy implementation by clarifying structures and leadership to bring more focus, improve prioritisation, and support the business more closely. The new setup strengthens product management and software development practices and provides a clearer foundation for data‑ and AI‑driven development, while enabling clearer roles and new opportunities for professional growth. As part of that change, we are now looking for a HEAD OF SOLUTIONS, INFLIGHT & FLIGHTOPS to join Finnair’s Digital Operations team in Finnair HQ near Helsinki-Vantaa Airport. Digital Operations plays a crucial role in supporting Finnair’s operational units and shaping the digital foundation that enables safety, punctuality, efficiency, resilience and high‑quality operations. As Head of Solutions, Inflight & FlightOps, you will enable safe, reliable and efficient inflight operations and flight operations through coherent, value‑driven digital solutions. You own the digital solution domains for Inflight and FlightOps, ensuring clarity, prioritisation and long‑term direction. Acting as a tactical partner to operational leadership, you translate operational needs, regulatory requirements and improvement opportunities into actionable, future‑ready development portfolios and investment decisions. Across both domains, you bring structure and service‑design‑driven insight to complex operational environments. You incorporate service design practices to understand frontline workflows and shape a long‑term roadmap that leverages emerging data and AI capabilities. You ensure development aligns with Digital-wide architecture, engineering and security standards and that solutions remain fit for purpose in both stable and disrupted operational contexts. Your tasks include but are not limited to: Drive the Inflight and FlightOps digital roadmap, ensuring operational priorities, safety requirements and regulatory needs translate into a coherent, strategic portfolio. Develop inflight and flight operations solutions that support safe, reliable and intuitive user-centric workflows, reducing cognitive load and strengthening operational performance. Structure and lead the development backlog across Inflight and FlightOps, ensuring initiatives are well‑defined, prioritised, approved and initiated with clear value. Apply service‑design methods to capture crew and operator insights and turn them into future‑ready development roadmaps enriched with emerging data and AI capabilities. Ensure system compliance and robustness, including operational safety requirements and Digital‑wide architecture, engineering, security and data standards. Strengthen operational resilience by ensuring inflight and FlightOps systems are stable, scalable and effective in both normal and disrupted operational scenarios. Provide clear visibility of dependencies, risks and trade‑offs, enabling informed tactical decision‑making with operational stakeholders.
