Job Description
Responsibilities A. All ratings in all departments have a duty to ensure the safety and safe working practices of both themselves and the personnel that they are working with. B. They are under the control of the Second Engineer and carry out duties relating to the safety, navigation, operation, maintenance and security of the ship and all hold, tank, and ballast space cleaning. C. The Rating should bring any defects to the attention of the Second Engineer or VMT Member and suggest remedial actions required to rectify the same. D. He should actively participate in the vessels Unsafe Act Auditing programme through completion Unsafe and Unsafe Condition reports and in assistance with the Safety Officer. E. He should be fully conversant with Permit to Work systems and the Daily Work Planning procedures. F. In addition he must carry out any lawful command and delegated duty as issued by the Chief Engineer, Master, Chief Officer, Cargo Engineer or delegated OOW.
