Job Description
Savonlinna is rapidly transforming. The city is currently undertaking and planning significant investments in streets, bridges, ports, parks, and other infrastructure to build a more functional, safer, and more pleasant city. We are now seeking a Construction Site Manager for a permanent position responsible for preparing, commissioning, and practically implementing the city's infrastructure investments. If you enjoy working at the interface of construction sites, planning, and decision-making, and want to see the tangible impact of your work on the cityscape, this role may be just for you. As a Construction Site Manager, you will work as an operational partner to the Infrastructure Manager and be responsible for the practical execution of investment projects from planning to construction. You will work closely with designers, contractors, consultants, authorities, and the city's own staff. Your tasks include, among others: Preparation, guidance of planning, and commissioning of investment projects; Preparation of contracting and consulting procurements and conducting tenders; Managing construction sites and guiding contractors as the client’s representative; Ensuring project schedules, costs, quality, and safety; Acting as the safety coordinator for the developer in investment projects; Leading city-owned construction sites and guiding workgroups. Projects involve the construction and development of streets, pedestrian and bicycle paths, bridges, ports, parks, and other city infrastructure. The annual total volume of investment projects under the Construction Site Manager’s responsibility is typically around 3-5 million euros. Requirements for applicants: Degree in civil engineering, urban engineering, or a related field (AMK or higher education); Practical experience in infrastructure construction, commissioning, or site management; Ability to lead projects, make decisions, and drive tasks forward; B driving license. Experience in site management, planning guidance, public procurement, commissioning, and safety coordination is especially valued. Experience as a contractor, developer, supervisor, or designer provides a good foundation for success in this role. You can be an experienced infrastructure construction professional or someone with experience in supervisory and commissioning tasks. We especially value teamwork skills, responsibility, willingness to develop, and an honest, practical approach. The monthly salary for the Construction Site Manager position is 3906.28 euros, with possible additional pay based on previous experience. The terms of employment are governed by the Municipal Sector’s technical personnel collective agreement (TS). The trial period is six (6) months. The position will be filled starting October 1, 2026, or as agreed. The selected candidate must provide a satisfactory health certificate before starting.
