Primary School Full-time Subject Teacher, Resource Teaching - Kotkan kaupunki - Kotka, Finland

The Kotka Education Department is hiring a full-time primary school subject teacher for resource teaching and additional group-specific support needs for grades 6-9, for a fixed term from August 1, 2026, to July 31, 2027. The first placement of the position is at Karhula School. Karhula School operates in three locations until the beginning of the fall semester 2027. The school has approximately 700 students in grades 6-9. In addition to general education groups, Karhula School offers physical education and music-focused instruction, a flexible basic education group, and special classes. Karhula School is part of the national sports high school network. Sports classes are coached in collaboration with the South Kymenlaakso Sports Academy (EKA) during school hours. Resource teaching and group-specific support focus on physics, chemistry, mathematics, biology, and geography. We are looking for an enthusiastic, development-oriented, and cooperative teacher with good teamwork and teaching skills, strong IT skills, and a desire to learn new things. We require willingness to develop and implement flexible teaching arrangements and collaboration across subject and grade boundaries in accordance with the objectives of the curriculum and the renewal of learning support, as well as readiness to teach students from different linguistic and cultural backgrounds. The general education planner has, by decision § 39/2026 on April 7, 2026, determined the qualifications and teaching duties of the resource teacher in Kotka Education Department as follows: - Qualification as a primary school class teacher, when the classes where the resource teacher works mainly include students in grades 1-6. - Qualification as a subject teacher in primary school, when the classes mainly include students in grades 7-9. - Qualification as a special class teacher, regardless of the students’ age. When the classes mainly include students in grades 1-6, the teaching obligation is determined by the class teacher (OVTES). When the classes mainly include students in grades 7-9, the teaching obligation is determined by the subject teacher’s section "Other subjects" (OVTES). Certificates demonstrating qualification will be reviewed in a possible interview situation. The selected candidate must, before confirmation of appointment, provide an acceptable statement of health and a criminal record extract related to working with children and young people, as required by law (504/2002). A six (6) month probationary period applies to the position. Salary is determined according to the municipal collective agreement for the education sector. The salary for the position in Kotka Education Department with task code 40307038 is €3,460.44/month.
