Job Description

In the north, work and life go hand in hand. At the Lapland Welfare Area, you will become part of a close-knit work community where tasks are handled regardless of titles and everyone works together. The stunning nature of Lapland, unique landscapes, and opportunities for career development provide memorable moments. We give space and support so you can follow a path that suits you. Welcome to join us in Sodankylä! We are looking for two (2) licensed practical nurses for permanent positions starting from September 1, 2026, or by agreement. Home care is provided either in the client’s home or through remote visits, tailored to the client’s needs according to an individual service and care plan. Through home care services, we support the client’s own resources and functional capacity in a multidisciplinary manner, enabling high-quality, safe, and meaningful living at home. The clients are mainly elderly people whose health condition requires special attention and multidisciplinary care. Licensed practical nurses are part of a multidisciplinary team where everyone’s contribution is valued. Team members and the immediate supervisor support you in familiarizing yourself with the new work community. Your role as a licensed practical nurse involves guiding and assisting clients with basic care and supporting them in daily activities with a rehabilitative approach that promotes their own resources. As a licensed practical nurse, you act as the client’s own nurse, conduct RAI assessments, and evaluate the client’s functional capacity together with the team. The work also includes meeting elderly clients, planning, implementing, and evaluating care, and organizing support services together with the team when necessary. The work is rewarding due to its variety and independence. WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT FROM US? Meaningful work - The opportunity to do truly impactful work in Lapland’s largest and most diverse work community. - Responsibility and freedom to develop your own job description and career. Genuine community - A supportive and caring work environment where colleagues’ support is close every day. - An open atmosphere that values everyone’s voice. Lapland’s everyday rhythm and quality of life - The possibility to combine work and life in a way that feels genuinely good. After work, nature experiences are right at your doorstep. WHAT DOES WORKING IN THIS ROLE REQUIRE? - A qualification as a licensed practical nurse or an equivalent previous qualification, and registration with JulkiTerhikki and/or JulkiSuosikki (The National Supervisory Authority for Welfare and Health). - A driver’s license and the ability to use your own car. WHAT DO WE SEE AS YOUR ADVANTAGE? Bring an enthusiastic attitude to work, a desire to develop yourself, and courage to take on new challenges. We value good teamwork skills, independence, and a responsible work approach. We want you to be authentic, as we believe in people. Knowledge of the Sámi language is considered a special advantage. The employment terms are governed by the SOTE agreement. The position is subject to a 6-month probation period. For staff vaccination, we follow the vaccination requirements under the law and infectious disease law. The selected candidate must present a criminal record extract as required by law 741/2023, section 28, for working with elderly persons before starting the job. Apply for the position via Kuntarekry by August 17, 2026, at 15:00! We only process applications filled out in Finnish, as it is also our working language, so please keep this in mind when applying. Priority in filling the position will be given to employees of the Lapland Welfare Area who are subject to termination threats, provided they meet the qualification requirements.
