Health Nurse, School Health Services - Helsingin kaupunki - Helsinki, Finland

We are looking for a health nurse for a fixed-term substitute position in Helsinki's northern school health services. The role involves promoting the health and well-being of children, adolescents, and families in a warm, development-oriented, and supportive work community. The work is diverse, independent, and impactful, combining preventive health care, individual encounters, and close cooperation with families and school staff. You will be responsible for health examinations and health counseling, supporting the overall well-being of children and adolescents, and participating in multidisciplinary student welfare work with the school community. You can plan and organize your work independently, supported by a team of local health nurses, colleagues, and supervisors. A personal orientation will be arranged to help you settle into the role. You may be an experienced health nurse or at the beginning of your career — the most important thing is the desire to work with children, adolescents, and families and the motivation to promote their well-being. The qualification requirement is a higher education degree in health care or a previous specialized diploma at the vocational school level. The role requires a license to practice in Finland according to the law on health care professionals (559/1994, 1200/2007). Good oral and satisfactory written skills in Finnish are required. The role also requires a tuberculosis screening according to the Communicable Diseases Act (55 §). Completion of the LOP/LOVe LOP medication license is required by the end of the trial period. A criminal record extract must be presented (Act on the Background Check of Persons Working with Children 504/2002). We consider experience in school health care, proficiency in Apotti, self-direction, development-mindedness, and teamwork skills as advantages.
