Job Description

We are actively developing outpatient mental health services for families with children. The Family Intensive Unit provides focused, goal-oriented family-level treatment episodes. Pirha has two Family Intensive Units operating in Valkeakoski and Ylöjärvi. The future goal is for these two units to be located in Tampere by spring 2027, according to an initial plan. We are now seeking a social worker for a permanent position. The starting location is the Family Intensive Unit in Valkeakoski. The Family Intensive Units offer specialized and intensive support to families with minor children, where significant stressors or challenges in mental health or functioning are observed or suspected. The service is aimed at families who have not received sufficient help despite previous support measures. Family-level challenges are described as demanding and complex. The work is based on multidisciplinary collaboration both within the unit and extensively across social and health services networks. The unit’s expert team includes two child psychiatrists, an adult psychiatrist, two psychologists, four nurses, two social workers, and an occupational therapist. The role requires recognition of development and challenges in children, adolescents, and families, as well as solid knowledge of their assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation. Experience as an expert in multidisciplinary teams and familiarity with service networks and legislation are essential. A broad understanding of social perspectives is also required. The core tasks of a social worker in the Family Intensive Unit include: - Mapping the functional capacity and symptom picture of family members, and describing the parent’s perception of the causes of symptoms - Collecting information on the development history of the child or adolescent in various environments, family history (including multigenerational aspects), and the current state of the child, adolescent, and parent - Working within the framework of parenting and family interaction, focusing on children’s and adolescents’ mental health and substance abuse challenges, as well as providing psychosocial support and encouragement to parents and children - Planning support measures and engaging in therapeutic work with individuals, families, and networks, including home visits if necessary - Multidisciplinary teamwork as a key working method - Developing multidisciplinary network cooperation, coordinating unit activities, and developing group therapy models in collaboration with the Ylöjärvi Family Intensive Unit. We offer: - Diverse work in a multidisciplinary community - Orientation to the job and use of necessary information systems - Employee benefits such as sports, culture, commuting, and well-being benefits, which can be tailored to your preferences. Our occupational health services are provided at Pirha.
