Job Description
Behind every server Verda brings online is hands-on engineering work: defining the right components, assembling and configuring the machine, validating it, and making sure issues are caught before customers ever see them. Our Hardware team is scaling, and we need more engineering capacity to keep server delivery fast and reliable. We are looking for a (Senior) Hardware Engineer (SW/HW) to join our Hardware team in Helsinki. You will work across the full hardware delivery cycle assisting with BoMs for CPU and storage servers, assembling and validating systems, running testing and burn-in procedures, debugging issues across hardware and software, and improving the documentation and processes the team relies on. This is a hands-on, practical, onsite-based role. The work involves physical servers, assembly, cabling, testing, and debugging. The team collaborates closely, communicates fast, and is comfortable with some ambiguity. Responsibilities may evolve as the team grows. You’ll join a small team where your work directly shapes how Verda builds, tests, and scales server systems. The scope is broad, spanning hardware and software, and grows with you: within a year, you’ll own specific server configurations, validation workflows, and parts of the hardware delivery process. Assist in defining and maintaining BoMs for CPU and storage server configurations. Assemble, configure, and validate servers for different applications. Run and improve testing, burn-in, and troubleshooting procedures. Debug hardware, firmware, Linux, storage, and networking issues. Document configurations, test results, known issues, and handover steps. Make day-to-day decisions on assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and practical process improvements — senior candidates will also recommend component choices and validation standards. Hands-on experience with servers, storage systems, workstations, or similar hardware. Strong Linux/system-level troubleshooting skills. Ability to debug issues across both hardware and software. Clear documentation habits. Ability to work from our Helsinki office 5 days per week. Experience assisting with BoMs, component compatibility, or hardware lifecycle work. Experience with server testing, burn-in, diagnostics, or validation. Experience in data center, cloud infrastructure, HPC, or storage environments.
