Director, Engineering, Platform Operations & Productivity - Gitlab - Remote - Global

As Director, Engineering, Platform Operations & Productivity, you'll own three functions that all require hands-on technical depth, not just people management. You will lead a small, senior, AI-native team that moves to wherever the organization needs the most leverage, from standing up early scaffolding for an initiative, to taking on a high-impact customer request, to stepping directly into a production crisis until it's resolved. You will personally build distributed systems, use clear metrics, and set technical standards. Your role involves assessing, designing, and managing operational and productivity outcomes, building and overseeing a small, high-leverage team, and representing these functions to stakeholders and customers. You will need hands-on experience with distributed systems, operational reliability, and AI-assisted development tools, along with strong leadership and decision-making skills.
