Job Description

Koivuluoto School is seeking a TEMPORARY SPECIAL CLASS TEACHER for the period 1.8.2026-31.7.2027. Would you like to work in a relaxed hometown on the shores of the Bothnian Bay and teach in schools with sufficient resources for learning support and a development-oriented, encouraging work community? Welcome to Raahe! Raahe is the second largest city in North Ostrobothnia, with a history rooted in the age of sailing ships and storytelling culture. We are known for our archipelago and sea location. Our school is a primary school with approximately 280 students, operating at two sites: Ollinsaaari and Kampus. Koivuluoto School offers general education classes as well as special classes (E1-2, E3-4), a small group for basic education, and preparatory classes. Our skilled and straightforward staff implement activity-based teaching and modern, high-quality basic education. Our motto is movement and health in students' daily lives. The task involves providing group- and student-specific support to students in accordance with the reform. The position requires good cooperation skills and knowledge of the support reform. The experience in teaching S2 students is considered an advantage. Qualifications are determined according to the decree on the qualifications of education personnel (986/1998). In the absence of qualified applicants, the position may also be filled by a person without the required degree. Original certificates of qualification must be presented during the interview. Salary and working conditions are governed by the Municipal Education Personnel Collective Agreement (OVTES). The basic salary for teachers in Raahe exceeds the scale salary according to OVTES. The selected candidate must, within 30 days of receiving the employment decision, present a satisfactory health certificate and a criminal record extract related to working with children, which must not be older than six months. We use a trial period in fixed-term employment, which is at most half of the employment duration. Raahe emphasizes staff well-being and offers many benefits, including free swimming once a week, discounts on services at Kuntokeidas Vesipekka (bowling, badminton, etc.), free exercise classes and gym sessions, weekly physical activity (1 hour/week), and discounts on sports, culture, and massage services, as well as holiday home shares at affordable prices in Ruka and Vuokatti. Applications are submitted electronically via the Kuntarekry recruitment system. If you cannot apply electronically, you may send your application to: Raahe City Education Department, Rantakatu 5 D, 92100 Raahe.
