Job Description
Youth work conducted by Youth Services is tailored to the youth of Rovaniemi and involves listening to and understanding them. It provides children and young people with diverse leisure activities, hobbies, information, advice, and support, and promotes their participation and influence opportunities. The organization of Rovaniemi's Youth Services is based on four types of work: targeted, communal, experiential youth work, and services that enable youth work. The goal of work in accordance with the values of Youth Services is to promote measures that make Rovaniemi an equal Lapland city where young people enjoy themselves, are well, and have diverse opportunities for self-fulfillment. The youth worker's task is to guide children and young people individually and in groups, and to support growth and development according to age requirements in various environments. The scope of work includes developing new methods and forms of work together with the team and partners. The work is mainly done with a partner and the work community, but also requires independent decision-making and judgment combined with creative problem-solving skills. Key responsibilities of the youth worker include planning and implementing activities such as youth center activities, school youth work, camps, trips, and events. The youth worker is also responsible for reporting and managing the budget within their area. Good communication skills, guidance expertise, and knowledge of youth services systems and youth cultures are required. Most importantly, a desire to learn, do, and develop meaningful work for the well-being of children and young people. The work is primarily evening and weekend work and requires the possibility of using a personal car. A six-month probation period applies. The qualification requirement for the youth worker position is a youth and community worker degree or other suitable education. The work begins on August 10, 2026, or by agreement. Salary and other employment conditions are determined according to KVTES. Applicants must submit a criminal record extract and drug test result in accordance with law 504/2002 before starting work.
