Job Description
The current Palosaaren Daycare Center has four child groups. In the fall of 2026, Palosaaren Daycare will merge with Kaptensgatans Daycare and Vikinga Förskolan to form a new Palosaaren Daycare. The new daycare will be located in a recently renovated Jugendstil building in seaside scenery with good transportation connections. The early childhood education teacher is responsible for the quality of pedagogy, planning, and assessment within the group, as well as collaboration with parents. The qualification requirement is compliance with the Early Childhood Education Act (540 / 2018) § 26 (transitional provision § 75) for the role of early childhood education teacher. Pre-primary education qualification is considered an advantage. If a qualified applicant is not found, the position may be filled temporarily. Early childhood education teachers graduating in spring 2026 will also be considered, with certification required before starting employment. Language skills requirement is good oral and written Finnish. Preferred qualities include: - Strong pedagogical approach - Proactivity and initiative - Good interaction skills to support the well-being of the work community, children, and families - Flexibility to adapt to changing daily situations. Selection criteria emphasize good cooperation and interaction skills, as well as a developmental work attitude. We offer a position where you can utilize your strengths and interests, with support from a motivated bilingual work community and supervisor. Salary is determined according to the OVTES level pay system. The trial period is six months. The selected candidate must present a medical certificate of health (T-certificate) and a criminal record extract according to Act 504/2002 before starting work. The Infectious Diseases Act (Section 55) requires those working with preschool children to assess the risk of tuberculosis transmission. A questionnaire developed by the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health will be used for tuberculosis screening, along with interpretation instructions. Candidates invited for an interview must bring original certificates and employment references.
