Job Description
Cadence Design Systems is seeking an experienced Application Engineer to drive customer success in AI-driven digital implementation and signoff workflows. The role involves enabling next-generation design methodologies powered by AI, applied to backend physical design using the Innovus platform and timing signoff flows. The candidate will combine experience in AI-enabled workflows and data-driven problem solving with strong fundamentals in place-and-route (PnR) and static timing analysis (STA), helping customers transition to more automated and intelligent design methodologies. Responsibilities include adopting AI-driven design and debug workflows, applying AI/ML techniques to improve design debug efficiency, flow automation, design convergence, and optimization. The role also involves contributing to initiatives involving LLM-based debug assistance, knowledge-driven automation, and multi-agent workflows. Customer engagement includes acting as a trusted advisor, delivering workshops, training, and guidance, and building strategic relationships. Physical design responsibilities include floorplanning, placement, CTS, routing, optimization, congestion, power, performance tuning, debugging complex issues, and optimizing PPA and TAT. Timing signoff duties include enabling and supporting timing closure, debugging timing issues such as setup/hold violations, derates, variation modeling, and multi-corner/multi-mode analysis. Qualifications include BS/MS in Electrical or Computer Engineering, experience in AI/ML, data-driven workflows, physical design, or EDA application engineering, and strong technical skills in PnR and STA. Preferred qualifications include experience with AI/ML in EDA, advanced nodes, large-scale SoC, and hands-on experience with Cadence tools like Innovus, Tempus, Quantus, Pegasus, and Genus. The role involves collaboration with global teams, customer interaction, and travel. The annual salary range for Massachusetts is $133,000 to $247,000, with potential incentive compensation and benefits.
