Job Description

Kemijärvi has two municipal daycare centers and one service voucher daycare. The service voucher unit utilizes services provided by a special education teacher in accordance with the rules of the service voucher. In pre-kindergarten groups, there is a shared special education teacher responsible for supporting learning and participation in pre-kindergarten. The special education teacher (VEO) acts as an expert and developer of special pedagogical activities in daycare centers. The goal of the role is to support the staff of daycare groups and families in matters related to the child's growth and learning, and to identify the need for support early enough. The special education teacher participates in planning, implementing, and evaluating support measures necessary for the child's early childhood education in collaboration with early childhood staff, support staff, and research and rehabilitative organizations. The role also includes acting as an expert in various working groups and collaboration meetings. Qualifications for the position include knowledge of legislation, an independent work approach, judgment, and planning skills. Good interaction and teamwork skills are also required, as well as a desire to develop early childhood education and special early childhood education. Salary and employment conditions are determined according to OVTES. A six (6) month trial period applies. Kemijärvi city is a smoke-free employer. The qualification requirement for the special education teacher position is based on the Finnish Early Childhood Education Act (540/2018) section 30: qualification as an early childhood education teacher, plus completed professional studies in special education, as specified by government regulation or a master's degree in education with a major in special pedagogy (special early childhood education teacher training). The selected candidate must submit a satisfactory medical certificate of health and a criminal record extract related to working with children within 30 days of selection.
