South Savo Welfare Area Eloisa is seeking a social worker for child protection foster care for a fixed-term position from August 17, 2026, to August 16, 2027, or as agreed. Our offices are located in Mikkeli, Savonlinna, and Pieksämäki. The current vacancy is based in Mikkeli. Remote work can be performed 1-5 days a week according to your schedule, with face-to-face meetings with clients as needed. Your tasks include managing matters related to clients in child protection foster care, such as preparing client plans, assessing and arranging necessary services, and organizing foster care that meets the child's needs. The work involves close cooperation with the child's network, especially parents, close contacts, and foster care providers. The work is rewarding and diverse, independent but not solitary. You will be involved in developing the operations of the foster and after-care unit established in the Eloisa region. We are open to new practices and development, but the core task remains the main focus. We emphasize comprehensive support for placements, which continues to be developed. You will be supported by the staff of the foster and after-care unit operating across the Eloisa region, a supervisor, the SAS working group, the multidisciplinary child protection team, and work supervision. Professionals in service guidance will assist in service organization. We genuinely prioritize manageable client caseloads, typically around 25 clients. We aim to provide high-quality, impactful foster care, meeting clients with humanity and professionalism. Good teamwork skills are important, as a positive work environment is valued! The qualification requirement is a social worker qualification and license according to the Act on Social Welfare Professionals (817/2015), Section 7. Additionally, a driver’s license and the ability to travel across the Eloisa region and beyond are required. Experience in child protection foster care is considered an advantage. Sufficient spoken and written Finnish skills are necessary for the role. The position requires vaccination against infectious diseases as per the Communicable Diseases Act, Section 48, and a health statement regarding respiratory tuberculosis as per Section 55. The selected candidate must provide a health statement before employment is confirmed. Working with children requires a clean criminal record certificate as per the Act on Background Checks (504/2002), Section 3, before starting work if employment exceeds three months. The employment relationship includes a six (6) month probation period. Applications must be received by the deadline. Applications should be submitted through the Kuntarekry system.
