Lovisa is a charming bilingual coastal town characterized by small-town idyll. The municipality's 12 primary schools and two high schools have approximately 150 teachers and 80 school assistants. Lovisa city is advertising a regular part-time teacher in the main position with special class teacher duties (1086), minimum 16 weeks, based at Generalshagens School starting from 12.08.2026. Generalshagens School is located in Lovisa city center, near natural areas with diverse recreational opportunities. Our school building has been fully renovated, and we will move back in August 2026 before the school starts. Currently, the school has 202 children and students in grades 1-6, with two preschool groups, 11 basic groups, three groups with class-based special education, and one group with students studying according to operational areas. The school serves as a regional center for students requiring class-based special education. The school's activities also include preschool children’s morning and afternoon care, as well as after-school activities. At present, we have 47 employees including school assistants, teachers, and administrative staff. As a special class teacher, you will work within a team. You will work in a special class and as a partner teacher in co-teaching in basic groups. You should be flexible, cooperative, innovative, and open to new pedagogical solutions. Support for learning and schooling introduced on 1.8.2025 should be familiar to you. We expect you to employ a varied pedagogical approach and work towards inclusion. You will be part of the school's special education team and participate in the city’s special education development work. You will work with many different partners and must be able to listen and confidently express your opinions. Contact with families is very important.
