Job Description
We are seeking a social worker for the child protection unit of Kymenlaakso Wellbeing Services in Kotka. Our social worker responsible for children's affairs works with minors who are open, in foster care, or in after-care. As a social worker, you will be part of a team including two social workers, a social counselor, and a family supervisor for intensified family work. Our office at Toivelinnan katu 2 has four teams. In addition to the teams, the office employs a lead social worker, a family therapist, and a service secretary. Child protection social work is diverse and challenging in many ways. At the same time, the work, the relationships it involves, and the experiences of learning and success are rewarding. Genuine interaction with children and families is the foundation of our work. We are proud that as a community, we share a strong ethical value base. Your work is independent, but support is available from your colleague, team members, and immediate supervisor. Your work is supported by regular team meetings, supervision, jointly planned training, and development and well-being days. Our community emphasizes genuine attention to children, good humor, and a collaborative spirit. Currently, we are developing our established systemic working method and pilot a feedback-based approach (FIT measure). We have flexible working hours and the possibility of remote work days. You are suitable for this position if you have a degree in social work and a professional license from Valvira. Previous experience in child protection social work and network work in child-related matters, as well as adopting a systemic approach, are considered an advantage. The job requires mobility, so a driver’s license is recommended. There are three employer cars available from the parking lot, so owning a car is not necessary. It is also welcome to add a good person to our team! If there are no suitable applicants meeting the qualification requirements, we will consider applicants eligible for temporary substitution. A person studying for a social worker qualification who has completed the basic and intermediate studies in social work and practical training can work temporarily in the role for up to one year. Additionally, a person who has completed the following can work temporarily: 1. A university degree in a relevant social science field or a degree from a university of applied sciences in social and health care, 2. Basic and intermediate studies in social work, and 3. Practical training or sufficient practical experience and professional skills. We want to make the application process as smooth as possible for you.
