Our core expertise areas are technology, health, and society. Tampere University Normal School is a practice school mandated by the University Act, part of the Faculty of Education and Culture. Its mission is to develop teacher education and implement supervised teaching practice courses for students in teacher, special education, and primary school teacher training. The school operates as a local school for basic education (grades 1-9) and offers high school education. It is also active in research, experimentation, and development in teaching and education, and participates in continuing education. Located on two campuses, the school has about 950 students and 100 staff members. It offers specialized instruction in music and circus arts in basic education, and in economics and business in high school, including a circus arts high school line. The school is a UNESCO school and a certified sustainable development school. The teaching and other staff perform approximately 270 teaching placements annually. The position of Religion and Philosophy Teacher is a fixed-term role from August 1, 2026, to July 31, 2027, mainly for high school education, including supervising teacher training practice and requiring an active, experimental work approach. Teaching obligation is 21 weekly hours.
