Specialist in Municipal Financial Management - Suupohjan Seutupalvelukeskus Oy - Kauhajoki, Finland

We are looking for a specialist in municipal financial management for a fixed-term position until May 31, 2027, to strengthen our financial management team. After the fixed term, the position may be continued if the conditions are met. This role can be performed fully remotely, but we hope the selected person can visit our office in Kauhajoki approximately 1–2 times a month. This is a project-based expert role aimed at deepening our organization's specialized knowledge in municipal accounting and ensuring high-quality, consistent procedures in financial statement and reporting processes. As a specialist, you will serve as an expert on complex accounting, financial statement, and reporting issues for our client municipalities, as well as support our financial management staff. You will work closely with accountants, chief accountants, and service managers. Your key responsibilities include: Participating in the preparation of municipal and consolidated financial statements, guiding and developing state treasury reporting, preparing materials and reports supporting financial statements, clarifying accounting issues and providing solutions, advising and guiding accountants and chief accountants on complex financial management questions, developing processes, procedures, and guidelines, training and enhancing expertise, especially in financial statements, group accounting, and reporting. Within our organization, you will act as a subject matter expert in municipal finance, especially when in-depth knowledge is required in areas such as specialized accounting issues, group accounting, or state treasury reporting. We expect from you: relevant education in financial management, at least five years of experience in municipal accounting tasks, strong expertise in financial statements, consolidated accounts, and state treasury reporting, good understanding of regulations and reporting requirements related to municipalities, ability to grasp broad concepts and solve challenging financial management questions, experience in training or acting as an expert, development-oriented, collaborative, and solution-focused approach, proficient IT skills and readiness to learn new systems. Experience with ProEconomica and Raindance software is an advantage.
