Job Description
City of Vantaa, Education and Learning, Basic Education. Kaivokselan School is a primary school with approximately 600 students located in western Vantaa. The old mining environment and lush nature are part of our learning environment. The school is easily accessible by public transport from various directions in the Helsinki metropolitan area. Most of the students at Kaivokselan School come from the Kaivokselan and Myyrmäki areas. Our school community is multilingual and multicultural. The school also has long experience in English-language instruction. Our adult community includes about 24 class teachers, 10 special education teachers, three Finnish as a Second Language teachers, three resource teachers, a preparatory class teacher, and 17 guides/student nurses. We aim to meet the needs of students and guardians by developing language awareness, flexible individual instruction, and everyone’s participation. Our class teachers work closely with other teachers and staff. Our school culture is based on team teaching and community development. Each member of the staff participates in school development through weekly team meetings. Based on the number of students speaking languages other than Finnish as their mother tongue (S2), qualified teaching staff may receive a monthly salary supplement of 165.20 euros. Why choose Vantaa? Job details: Qualifications: Qualification according to the Decree on Qualifications of Education Personnel 986/1998. In addition to the qualification, we require: readiness to work in our multilingual and multicultural school. The ability to consider students’ diverse support needs in teaching is also a basic requirement. Advantages: Previous experience in teaching and team teaching is considered an advantage. Terms of employment are governed by the Municipal Education Personnel Collective Agreement (OVTES). Salary: OVTES.
