Job Description
We are seeking a teacher primarily for the Helsinki University practice school, Viikki Teacher Training School, for grades 7-9 and high school. BIOLOGY AND GEOGRAPHY FULL-TIME TEACHER for a fixed-term employment from August 1, 2026, to December 31, 2026. You are required to have teaching qualifications in both subjects. In addition to professional competence, we value good collaboration and interaction skills, a developmental approach to work, and enthusiasm for developing teaching. We would like to hear about your previous experience in teaching biology and geography, as well as pedagogical use of teaching technology. We hope you will fit into our open and community-oriented work environment. The teacher's role at the practice school may also include supervising student teachers during their teaching practice. Experience of supervising is considered an advantage, so please tell us in your application what experience you have in this area. If you do not yet have experience in supervision, tell us what makes you a good supervisor for teaching practice. The salary for the position is based on the collective agreement for university practice schools at level 5 of the job evaluation scale. Additionally, a performance-based salary component is paid. With full teaching duties, the salary ranges approximately from €4,300 to €4,500 per month, plus any overtime and compensation for other tasks. The salary for a full-time substitute teacher depends on the number of hours taught and other duties.
