Job Description
Helsinki University's practice school, primarily Helsinki Normal Lyceum, which includes grades 1-6, 7-9, and high school, is seeking a full-time substitute teacher for social studies and resource education for a fixed-term contract from August 1, 2026, to July 31, 2027. We are looking for a student-centered social studies teacher. The role includes working as a resource teacher for primary and secondary school students. You must have qualifications as a social studies teacher. In addition to professional skills, we value good cooperation and interaction skills, a developmental approach, and flexibility. The salary for the position is based on the university practice school collective agreement at level 5 of the job evaluation scale. Additionally, a performance-based salary component is paid. With full teaching duties, the salary ranges approximately from €4,300 to €4,500 per month. Overtime and compensation for other tasks are paid additionally. The position is filled with a six-month probation period. Candidates must provide a drug test certificate and a criminal record extract related to work with children before signing the employment contract, in accordance with the Act on Background Checks of Offenders (504/2002). Annually, about 100 students studying to become teachers, special education teachers, or subject teachers complete their pedagogical training at the school.
