We are currently hiring a practical nurse for a permanent position at Yli-Maaria Validia House, where daily life involves facing both significant challenges and small, meaningful moments of joy. As a practical nurse, you will accompany clients through all daily situations, from routines to more challenging moments, providing calm and professional support. Our clients may exhibit challenging behaviors, rigidity, intense emotional expressions, or situations where they need clear guidance and a safe presence of a caregiver. The core of the work is the ability to support them through these moments. In this role, anticipation, consistency, and calm interaction are key, and daily routines are supported with clear structures, shared operational models, and alternative communication methods to ensure the client’s day proceeds safely and predictably. You will participate in clients’ care and support activities, administer medication, and make daily entries, while also sharing in good moments: insights, laughter, outdoor activities, music, and small progress steps that remind us of the importance of the work and bring joy to both clients and you. Yli-Maaria Validia House is a facility with 18 places for clients with developmental disabilities and autism spectrum disorder. Residents live in four group homes in their own apartments, and the unit cares for clients with demanding and very demanding needs. This means a daily life with a lot of responsibility and sometimes intense situations, but also a very close and warm community among clients and staff. Our strength is a multidisciplinary team where everyone’s skills are valued and challenges are addressed together, not alone. Shared structures and operational procedures, AVEKKI training, knowledge sharing, and thorough onboarding help ensure that the work is safe for both staff and clients. This position is permanent and begins according to agreement. The work involves three shifts. Previous experience in working with developmental disabilities or autism, as well as medication administration licenses, are advantageous but not essential. The most important qualities are interest in the work, the ability to act calmly, and a willingness to learn. We provide thorough onboarding and ongoing support, so you will not be working alone.
