Job Description

Vantaa city, Education and Learning, Basic Education. Martinlaakso School is a comprehensive school for grades 1-9, with approximately 1000 students during the 2025-26 school year. About 130 adults work in our school community. The school is located in Martinlaakso, with good transportation connections. We operate in a modern school building equipped with up-to-date teaching tools. Our diverse local environment offers excellent opportunities for learning and physical activity. Our goal is to be a pedagogically unified basic education school where students of different ages meet. Classroom teaching and subject teaching are located close to each other, and school staff collaborate, supporting the idea of a unified basic education and providing students with a seamless school journey from first grade to the end of basic education. We develop our school according to the ProSchool model, which involves shared goals and practices for the entire adult community to guide student behavior through positive feedback. We require applicants to commit to behavior aligned with this model. The broad special education teacher role primarily targets grades 5–6. The work includes planning, implementing, and evaluating learning support in collaboration with classroom teachers. Work methods emphasize co-teaching, flexible small-group, and individual support. The role also involves preparing pedagogical documents, consulting with classroom teachers, and participating in multidisciplinary student welfare work. We expect: good collaboration and communication skills, structured and solution-oriented approach, familiarity with legal changes in support, documenting skills, experience supporting neurodiverse students (nepsy) and ability to work flexibly in school routines is appreciated. We offer: a competent and supportive work community, clear structures for implementing learning support, support from supervisors and student welfare services in daily work. In our school, you will have access to learning environments and modern tools that support teacher collaboration, as well as a skilled community. We focus on staff community and well-being. New teachers are supported by mentor teachers. More information and recruitment process: Based on the number of students speaking languages other than Finnish (S2), teaching staff meeting the qualification requirements may receive a salary supplement of approximately 250 euros/month. The preliminary interview days are June 10-11, 2026. Interviews may be conducted already during the application period. Why choose Vantaa?
