Job Description

The City of Laitila announces an open-ended position for a Head of Leisure Services starting from September 1, 2026, or by agreement. This is a new position as part of the organizational reform of leisure services. The Head of Leisure Services is responsible for the overall management of leisure services. The role includes leadership of library, culture, youth, and sports services. Responsibilities include personnel management, operational and financial management, planning, and development. The appointee prepares matters related to the area for the Education Committee. The team includes two coordinators: a library and culture coordinator, and a sports and youth coordinator. The supervisor is the Director of Education. We expect you to take comprehensive responsibility for the effectiveness and achievement of goals in leisure services. Experience in managing personnel, finances, and services is familiar to you. You have an active development approach and readiness to review and develop leisure services as a whole. Strong knowledge of leisure services, project management skills, procurement and financial expertise, and the ability to promote strategic objectives are required. Leadership skills are highly valued, and we appreciate excellent management and communication skills, as well as experience in demanding personnel management. Self-management skills are also important. Your expertise should also be demonstrated in data-driven management, customer-oriented planning, customer service orientation, and an innovative, experimental work approach. Eligibility requires a suitable higher university degree and proven experience in management, leadership, and knowledge of municipal administration and legislation. Extensive familiarity with leisure services tasks is an advantage. Employment terms are based on the Local Government Collective Agreement (KVTES). The working hours are 36.25 hours per week. A 6-month probationary period applies. The selected candidate must provide a medical certificate before appointment and agree to a drug test. Laitila is a smoke-free workplace.
