Job Description

We at Sweco invite you to a versatile role as a lighting designer! Your work combines technical expertise with creativity and visual sense. You will create lighting solutions that enhance visibility, atmosphere, functionality, and safety in various environments. You will develop lighting plans for diverse projects, follow the latest lighting technologies and trends, and bring them to clients. You will assess client needs and meet their expectations with excellent design solutions. You will work closely with other professionals in building technology, infrastructure, architecture, and structural design. Your daily work includes design and project tasks, coffee discussions, recreation, and training. You will help advance the industry and participate in development work with project teams, clients, and partners. Our assignments include a variety of lighting design projects from highways to parks, museums, and facade lighting of historic buildings. We primarily seek reinforcement in street and road lighting design but are open to broader expertise. Our diverse projects allow you to develop your skills broadly. We invest in training through our Sweco Academy and external courses, supporting your professional growth. Our culture is based on a friendly work community and flat hierarchy. Strong local spirit and collaboration across offices bring agility, decision-making where it is fastest and most sensible, and internal knowledge sharing. We work in 28 locations, with electrical teams in Helsinki, Jyväskylä, Kuopio, Lappeenranta, Joensuu, Oulu, Kemi, Rovaniemi, Tampere, Seinäjoki, Pietarsaari, and Vaasaa. We prefer candidates who can work with electrical professionals in these locations but are open to other options. We promise to be part of transforming society together, creating future cities and a sustainable society, and making a real impact. Our global organization of 23,000 employees offers opportunities to work abroad or within Finland as circumstances change. We provide a comprehensive benefits package that you can influence, and we are flexible, prioritizing work-life balance. If you want to learn more about our culture, visit https://www.sweco.fi/ura/tyontekijalupaus/. To succeed, you should have at least 5 years of experience in street and road lighting design and project work, understand current lighting design possibilities, and have creative skills. Familiarity with client guidelines (e.g., large cities or Väylävirasto) and ability to design lighting solutions in collaboration with other building technology disciplines are essential. You should be customer-oriented, cooperative, proactive, responsible, a good listener, and confident in expressing your views. Your educational background should be as an electrical, building, or lighting engineer or a diploma engineer. Proficiency in CAD and lighting design tools (Dialux, Dialux EVO) and other relevant software is required. Apply by June 8, 2026, via the provided link. For questions, contact Jussi Loponen at 040 126 4266 or Niklas Lind at 046 851 6056, or email etunimi.sukunimi@sweco.fi.
