HUS Diagnostics Center is Finland's leading provider of clinical laboratory and imaging services. Our primary operational area is the specialized healthcare of the HUS consortium and the primary healthcare of the welfare areas affiliated with HUS. We also manage laboratory and imaging operations for the Kymenlaakso and South Karelia welfare areas. We operate across eight medical specialties. We are responsible for several nationally specialized studies as well as research and education at university hospitals. Diagnostic tests play a central role in confirming, excluding, treating, monitoring, and screening for diseases. Approximately 3,300 laboratory and imaging professionals work at HUS Diagnostics Center across more than 150 locations. We are seeking an assistant department head for a fixed-term position in the Diagnostics Center’s Pre-analytical unit at the Järvenpää laboratory. The assistant department head’s duties include basic tasks, resource coordination, administrative tasks, and activities related to competence and operational development. The role involves close collaboration with staff, the department head, and process managers to ensure smooth operations and resource allocation. The workdays are varied, and the assistant department head is involved in many activities. We expect you to have experience as a laboratory nurse in a laboratory environment, strong experience in personnel management and resource planning, good communication and collaboration skills, problem-solving ability, and proficiency in spoken and written Finnish. The Diagnostics Center has also implemented performance-based pay, which can increase the monthly income. Welcome to the role of assistant department head! Qualifications for the position include a suitable higher university degree with relevant experience, or a lower university degree supplemented with appropriate leadership or administrative studies or included in the degree, or previous approval as a department head with relevant experience, or a vocational degree in the field supplemented with leadership or administrative studies and relevant experience, along with a licensed healthcare professional. We require working in patient and customer areas to be protected against infectious diseases according to the Communicable Diseases Act, and health status verification for tuberculosis for those working in healthcare units.
