Professor/Assistant Professor in Meteorology

The Institute for Atmospheric and Earth System Research (INAR) at the Faculty of Science of the University of Helsinki invites applications for a PROFESSOR OR ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR IN METEOROLOGY. The field of the position is meteorology. Candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas are encouraged: dynamic meteorology, synoptic-scale meteorology, and numerical weather prediction. The appointee is expected to conduct an outstanding independent research program, supervise students and post-doctoral researchers, utilize research funding, participate in education, and promote interaction between academia and society. The work includes close collaboration with Finnish Meteorological Institute. The appointee will teach courses on synoptic meteorology and numerical weather prediction within the Master’s Programme in Meteorology, Atmospheric and Climate-System Sciences. The appointee will contribute to education development and curricula. Qualifications include an internationally recognized track record and a doctoral degree. The appointment terms for assistant/associate professors include a fixed term of 3–5 years with possible promotion to the next level.
