Job Description
Welcome to work as a family worker at Oma Häme! We are currently hiring a family worker for a temporary position in the Hämeenlinna region from August 17, 2026, to January 20, 2027. The work involves family work under the Social Welfare Act. Family work supports families with children aged 0-18. Support is provided during pregnancy and infancy, in matters of child upbringing and development, relationship challenges, and family interaction issues. Family work is carried out based on the family's needs, mainly in the families' homes. The work is based on a jointly made plan, with goals reviewed regularly. We work by discussing, guiding everyday situations, modeling, and using various methods in different family problem situations. The work includes networking with family members and authorities. The aim is to support the family's life management and resources, and to strengthen everyday coping skills preventively. In short-term services, the family worker acts as the family's own caseworker, but many client families have a social worker or social counselor as their caseworker. We are organized into three multidisciplinary teams in family services in the Hämeenlinna region, including family workers, social workers, social counselors, psychologists, and social workers in child and family counseling, working together for the benefit of clients. The temporary family worker position is within a team working in the Hattula, Hämeenlinna, and Janakkala areas. The workplace is located in Hämeenlinna city center at Uppsala House. We expect applicants to have previous experience working with families with children, and we especially value experience in family work. Experience with social welfare client information systems ProConsona/OMNI360 and YPH Effica/Sosiaali Lifecare is considered an advantage. The job requires initiative in addressing family challenges and managing one's own time. The family worker usually works alone in families, but work can also be done in pairs if needed. Some evening work is included. A valid driver's license is required; the use of a personal car is preferred. The qualification requirement is a relevant degree in social or health care (AMK) or an equivalent previous degree. The length of fixed-term employment affects the benefits. Interviews will be arranged during the application period, no later than July 29-30. The salary for this position is €2973.78/month (after August 1, €3041.28/month). In addition, experience-based pay may be added, ranging from 0% to 8%. Vacation days accrue based on service time. The working hours are 38.25 hours per week. Applications must be submitted through the Kuntarekry system before the deadline. Applicants working with children must provide a criminal record extract as required by law (504/2002, 770/1993, section 6.2) before starting work. Salary and other employment terms are governed by the SOTE agreement. A trial period applies. In direct patient and client work, vaccination protection as required by the Infectious Diseases Act (Section 48) and a tuberculosis clearance (Section 55) are required.
